Key Takeaways

• Seamless edge-to-edge glass palm rest turns into a slippery, greasy pool of palm sweat and fingerprints within minutes.
• Keyboard key travel is squashed down to ~1mm, feeling like typing directly on a stiff tabletop.
• Aggressively slim chassis has zero thermal headroom; sustained workloads choke CPU clock speeds down by 35%.
• Stripped all USB-A and HDMI ports to only three Thunderbolt ports, enforcing permanent reliance on dongles.

✅ Pros

• Opulent 3D curved glass chassis aesthetic
• Mesmerizing 2.8K 120Hz PureSight OLED colors
• Rich Bowers & Wilkins tuned four-speaker sound

❌ Cons

• Grease-magnet glass palm rest looks disgusting
• Stiff, jarring 1mm shallow keyboard travel
• Harsh 35% thermal throttle drop under load
• Zero legacy ports, no HDMI or Type-A

📝 Verdict

"Yoga Slim 9i is a glamorous luxury object compromised by a greasy glass palm rest, stiff keys, and hot thermals."

• Channel: Just Josh | Type: Full review | Based on: YouTube transcript

Key points

• Lenovo's top-end consumer model hides a camera under a 4K screen, runs Intel Lunar Lake, and has a beautiful teal glass lid.
• At about 2.7 lb, it's on the heavy side for a 14-inch aluminum laptop.
• Screen brightness is about 420 nits, and the glossy panel's reflections are very noticeable; the resolution is excessive for 14 inches.
• Not enough ports; Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4; the speakers have a narrow soundstage and weak bass.
• Integrated graphics performance is good and the fans are nearly inaudible, but battery life falls short of expectations, and it's a fingerprint magnet.

✅ Pros

• Beautiful design
• Quiet fans
• Good integrated graphics performance

❌ Cons

• Severe reflections, insufficient brightness
• Battery life below expectations
• Few ports
• Poor speakers
• Attracts fingerprints easily
• More expensive than a MacBook Pro

📝 Verdict

The same money can buy a better laptop (such as the OmniBook Ultra or a base MacBook Pro).

• Channel: Hardware Canucks | Type: CES preview review (non-final hardware) | Based on: YouTube transcript

Key points

• The Slim series focuses on being ultra-thin and highly efficient, fitting a 14-inch P-OLED screen into a 13-inch body.
• The world's first laptop with an under-display camera; the reviewer thinks lowering pixel density over the camera area could improve image quality.
• If the glass lid is damaged, replacement could be very expensive.
• The power adapter is as small as a phone charger and supports fast charging; the keyboard is rigid, the glass touchpad feels great, and it has two tweeters and two woofers.
• Raw CPU performance trails Ryzen, but the Arc integrated graphics game decently; memory is integrated on the processor and can't be upgraded.

✅ Pros

• Nearly bezel-less OLED
• Innovative under-display camera
• Good keyboard and touchpad
• Compact charger

❌ Cons

• Poor camera quality
• Repair cost of the glass lid
• CPU performance trails Ryzen
• Not upgradeable

📝 Verdict

A good choice for both productivity and light gaming; the under-display camera leans toward form over function, and the reviewer hopes firmware improves its image quality.

• Video: How is this 14" Laptop SO SMALL? | Lenovo Yoga Slim 9i
• Channel: Created by Ella | Type: Review (sponsored by Lenovo) | Based on: YouTube transcript

Key points

• The video is sponsored by Lenovo, but the reviewer says she won't hold back criticism.
• The bezels are extremely thin, with a higher screen-to-body ratio than other 14-inch laptops and no camera bump, so the body is especially small.
• The camera is hidden under the screen; two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a camera privacy shutter and an in-use indicator light.
• The touchpad has been made as large as possible but is still a diving-board design, so the top is hard to press; the chassis surface is scratch-resistant.
• Core Ultra 7 258V (Lunar Lake) with a 75Wh battery; 4.5 hours of YouTube looping used only 37% of the battery, the same as an M4 Max MacBook Pro.

✅ Pros

• Extremely thin bezels, compact body
• Excellent battery life
• Good Lunar Lake efficiency

❌ Cons

• The top of the touchpad is hard to press
• Not suited to heavy rendering or gaming

📝 Verdict

14 inches is the sweet spot for a portable laptop, and it's well worth considering if you don't do heavy workloads.
