The Tech Chap: Heavy 240g Weight and Intrusive Dynamic Island — Long-Term Regrets
Machine translated · Original language: Chinese (Taiwan) · Source language: Chinese (Taiwan)
Source
The Tech Chap
Key Takeaways
- A staggering 240g weight paired with sharp stainless steel edges causes undeniable wrist and pinky strain.
- Dynamic Island cuts deeper into widescreen 16:9 and 21:9 video content than the previous notch ever did.
- 48MP ProRAW photos average 80MB each, yet transferring them over USB 2.0 Lightning speeds takes agonizingly long.
- Camera macro switching is erratic around the 10cm-15cm boundary, constantly jumping lenses and hunting for focus.
✅ Pros
- Monstrous peak power from the A16 chip
- Superb 2,000-nit outdoor display brightness
- Rock-solid all-day battery endurance
❌ Cons
- Exhaustingly heavy ergonomics
- Dynamic Island disrupts video viewing
- Painfully obsolete Lightning transfer rates
- Erratic macro camera hunting
📝 Verdict
"iPhone 14 Pro Max has elite specs, but its brick-like bulk and intrusive screen cutout make it frustrating in everyday life."

The Tech Chap：240g
The Tech Chap

The Verge: iPhone 14 Pro Max Review — A 240g Wrist-Breaking Brick, Intrusive Dynamic Island, Brutal Throttling
Machine translated · Original language: Chinese (Taiwan) · Source language: Chinese (Taiwan)
Source
The Verge
Key Takeaways
- Tipping scales at a monstrous 240g naked (near 300g with case/glass), it induces severe wrist strain and pinky fatigue during single-handed use.
- The intrusive Dynamic Island pill cutout sits too low on screen, perpetually invading 16:9 video content and obscuring critical mobile gaming HUDs.
- High heat density of the A16 paired with poor stainless steel heat conduction causes brutal thermal throttling; outdoor shooting dims screens to 200 nits.
- Antiquated Lightning port bottlenecks at USB 2.0 (480Mbps), turning transfers of bulky 48MP ProRAW photos into an excruciatingly slow chore.
✅ Pros
- 48MP main sensor captures astonishingly crisp ProRAW textural detail
- Blinding 2,000-nit outdoor peak brightness for short bursts
- Massive battery easily pushes heavy users through an intense 1.5-day cycle
❌ Cons
- Monstrous 240g weight causes unbearable wrist and repetitive strain injury
- Dynamic Island pill encroaches annoyingly on full-screen media and gaming
- Stainless steel chassis traps heat, prompting swift display dimming under sun
- Stone-age Lightning USB 2.0 transfer speeds cripple ProRAW file workflows
📝 Verdict
"Uncompromising performance buried inside an ergonomically hostile 240g metal anvil with an intrusive pill and glacial Lightning speeds."

The Verge：240g
The Verge
- 2000 nits
