• Adds nearly 6mm of thickness, transforming a sleek foldable into a bulky, pocket-stretching brick.
• Deep cutout around the side fingerprint sensor obstructs thumb contact, increasing unlock failure rates.
• The spring-loaded sliding hinge mechanism traps micro-grit over time, making gritty grinding noises when flexing.

✅ Pros

• Industry-leading patented full hinge coverage
• Dual-layer Air Cushion technology absorbs heavy drops
• Matte textured TPU rails resist slippage and oil

❌ Cons

• Seesaw rocking when laid flat on desks
• Adds 6mm of bulky pocket-straining thickness

• Hinge track accumulates gritty grinding dust

📝 Verdict

"Spigen delivers bulletproof hinge safety at the cost of a desk-wobbling camel hump and excessive bulk."

Key takeaways

• Patented full hinge coverage: with a semi-auto sliding hinge protection cover, the hinge is fully covered by high-strength TPU whether the phone is open or closed, completely solving the pain point of foldable hinges getting damaged in drops.
• Drop protection specs: it has Air Cushion corner air pockets and inner shock-absorbing foam and passes military-grade drop tests, giving maximum peace of mind for the iPhone Duo, which is extremely expensive to repair.
• Adhesive-free clips: it's held in place by precisely molded micro snap fittings, leaving no residue on removal, so swapping cases or cleaning the phone is very convenient.
• Size and feel: because of the hinge protection cover and drop-protective structure, the phone's thickness and weight increase slightly, and the hinge cover on the back bulges slightly when unfolded into tablet mode.

✅ Pros

• Patented sliding hinge protection cover provides 360° full hinge protection rarely seen on the market
• Military-grade corner air pockets absorb shock, greatly reducing the risk of damage to the expensive screen and parts
• Adhesive-free installation, so removal and cleaning are very intuitive
• Fully compatible with MagSafe magnets and wireless charging

❌ Cons

• Adds bulk and weight, so it feels chunkier in the hand
• The raised hinge area when unfolded takes some getting used to in how you hold it

📝 Verdict

"For users worried about drop damage to an expensive foldable screen or hinge, Spigen offers the most reassuring all-round protection, and it's the top pick for anyone who prioritizes drop protection."

Key takeaways

• Solving the hinge pain point: whereas Apple's official case leaves the titanium hinge fully exposed, Spigen's patented semi-automatic sliding hinge cover extends and retracts smoothly as the phone opens and closes, providing protection at all times.
• Trade-off between feel and thickness: the hinge structure creates a slight raised curve on the back where you hold it when unfolded, but in exchange you get peace of mind that the hinge won't be damaged in drops, all day long.
• Button and cutout precision: the cutout for the side Touch ID power button is precise, so fingerprint unlocking doesn't catch at all.

✅ Pros

• Industry-leading patented semi-automatic sliding hinge protection cover
• Air Cushion corner air pockets provide military-grade drop cushioning
• Physical snap-fit attachment with no adhesive, making it very easy to remove and clean the phone

❌ Cons

• The case adds a bit of bulk, and holding it unfolded takes some getting used to the curve of the hinge cover
