Apple iPad mini (A20 Pro)

Apple iPad mini (A20 Pro)

Product ID: AKS-20261026-3Q8L

The iPad mini (A20 Pro) is Apple's smallest iPad, pairing an 8.5-inch screen with a 255 g body (Wi-Fi model) for reading on the go, note-taking with Apple Pencil, and watching video. This generation is the first to use a Super Retina XDR OLED display, in a 5.4 mm chassis rated IP67 for water and dust resistance. It runs the 2nm A20 Pro chip with iPadOS 27 out of the box, and adds a landscape 12MP Center Stage front camera, Acoustic Display stereo audio, and Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 via the N1 chip. The 18.9 Wh battery supports fast charging. It comes in Midnight and Starlight with 128, 256, or 512GB; the 512GB model has a 6-core CPU (5-core on 128/256GB), and nano-texture glass is offered only on 256GB and 512GB. Cellular models use the C2 modem and support eSIM only; prices start at NT$22,900 on Apple's Taiwan store, with pre-orders from 2026-10-28 and availability on 2026-11-06.

Snazzy Labs: iPad mini (A20 Pro) — Still No 120Hz ProMotion & Stage Manager Castrated

AI summary

Machine translated · Original language: Chinese (Taiwan) · Source language: Chinese (Taiwan)

Source

Snazzy Labs

Key Takeaways

  • Apple stubbornly refuses to bring 120Hz ProMotion to iPad mini in 2026, keeping handwriting latency artificially handicapped.
  • iPadOS arbitrarily disables full Stage Manager external display desktop mode on the mini, confining USB-C output to mirror mode.
  • Creeping towards a steep $600 starting price, while charging customary predatory fees for decent storage tiers.
  • Magnetically snapped Apple Pencil on the side rail obstructs hand grip, making one-handed holding clumsy.

✅ Pros

  • Monster A20 Pro horsepower runs console-tier ports
  • Perfect 8.3-inch digital pocket notepad footprint
  • Vibrant stereo speakers sound surprisingly broad

❌ Cons

  • Obsolete 60Hz screen refresh rate in 2026
  • Stage Manager external display extension arbitrarily disabled
  • Steep pricing with expensive storage tiers
  • Attached Apple Pencil impairs comfortable hand grip

📝 Verdict

"iPad mini A20 Pro has ferocious silicon betrayed by a 60Hz screen and petty software handicaps to protect Pro sales."

Snazzy Labs
